The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (1-800-638-2772) has targeted the following items for recall:

CPSC News Release 97-026 11/21/1996

Playards models 10-710 and 10-810 made by Century Products Co., Macedonia, OH. The playard may collapse and entrap child in folded top rails. Call firm for repair, 1-800-541-0264.

CPSC News Release 97-028 11/21/1996

Portable cribs/playards models 742 and 762 (All Our Kids brandname) made by Draco Corporation, Montibello, CA. The crib/playard may collapse and entrap the child in folded top rails. Consumer Product Safety Commission advocates stopping use and destroying the item (the firm is out of business).

CPSC News Release 97-002 10/03/1996

Baby monitors made June 1986 through 1990, Model 602, date codes 8806 through 9005, made by Gerry Baby Products Company, Thornton, CO. Wiring inside may be improperly connected resulting in overheating or possible fire. Call firm for replacement, 1-800-672-6289.

CPSC News Release 96-186 09/04/1996

Cedar Chests made between 1912 and 1987 from The Lane Furniture Company, Alta Vista, VA. Children may become trapped in the chests and suffocate. Call firm re: replacement of locks (1-888-856-8758).

CPSC News Release 96-130 05/05/1996

Recliner chairs with the space between the seat and the footrest greater than five inches when chair is in reclined position from Golden Chair Corporation, Houlka, MS, and Allen Manufacturing, Benton, TN (1-800-965-1277). The space between the footrest and seat can present a head entrapment hazard for children. Call the firm for repair information.

CPSC News Release 96-059 01/16/1996
Four-drawer dressers and chifferobes from Cosco Youth Options, made by Ridgewood, Inc. (Ontario, Canada), and Charleswood, Inc (Wright City, MO).
Products may become unstable and tip over if heavy objects are placed in the top drawers, several drwaers are open at the same time, or a child climbs on the unit. According to the news release, the problem can be repaired by removing the feet/glides, reducing the risk of tipover.

Recliner chairs with the space between the seat and the footrest greater than five inches when chair is in reclined position (sold between 01-1990 through 01-1994) from Astro-Lounger Furniture Industries, Inc., Houkla, MS (1-800-700-6945).
